Stress Relief
Stress, a feeling of ongoing tension, worry, upset,
uncertainty, and fear that comes from thinking about some threat or
danger. Stress takes its toll on our health. The adrenal glands
respond to stress by releasing hormones in an attempt to bring our
body back into balance or get us ready to either fight or escape
from a situation. Repeated stress can have a negative effect and
turn quickly into panic attacks and anxiety. Anxiety is often
mental, rather than a response to real events. The cause of the
problem is complex and may involve a mental conflict about life
values and goals. It can also be due to a change in health, income,
role, home life, or friendships. The more stress and anxiety we
face, the more we deplete our water soluble vitamins and throw our
hormones out of balance.
Notes: The ability to cope is different for each
person and if coping goes beyond a person's normal ability for too
long, chemical responses and hormonal imbalances can easily result
in a continuing feeling of anxiety. Essential Fatty Acids, high
levels of vitamin B complex and adrenal support can help in
fortifying the body's ability to work under increased stress. Fear
is also a considerable source of stress and may require professional
counselling in addition to proper nutritional support.
